DAY LABOR CENTER SPECIALISTS
The Day Labor Research Institute experts are the only day labor center specialists in the U.S., and have thirteen years experience in evaluating, auditing, and improving existing programs, including cost reduction and improving levels of day laborer' participation and employment for day laborers. We have helped cities and counties regain control of their local day labor program, establish realistic and verifiable program goals, and a simple system of reports and program documentation to assure compliance.

The Institute has helped implement new, effective responses to the issues of Day Labor in twenty-one different communities. Our successful record is the result of careful research, hands-on experience, and coordination with all concerned parties. Dedicated only to research, analysis, and organization of day laborers and their programs during our first eight years, we have unique and expert knowledge:

  • Day laborer-designed program development and implementation
  • Successfully relocating day labor centers
  • Finding appropriate locations for day labor center
  • Follow-up studies and evaluations.
  • Auditing, evaluating and improving existing day labor programs and problem solving
  • Successful marketing and outreach for day labor centers
  • Funding for day labor programs
  • Self sufficiency for day laborer centers
  • Feasibility studies and geographically specific day labor studies

Our success stories include Glendale, El Monte, and Concord, California, and Austin, Texas. The Glendale facility was awarded the 1997 Herman Goldstein Award for Successful Problem Oriented Policing Projects and a HUD best project award. We presently dedicate ourselves to setting up day labor centers on American Indian Nations exclusively (and some work with homeless programs). However, we do occasionally assist with city and county day labor programs on an emergency basis (we get to decide what is an emergency!) Contact us if you think your situation qualifies.
